Biblical understanding about Israel
Fortunately we always take precautionary measures and the families are transported to our hiding place in Kiev as well as to the East of Ukraine in Dnepropetrovsk one day earlier in order to be on time and once again this proves that this is really necessary! But for all drivers these were extra long days!
An area six times the size of the Netherlands was affected by the heavy snowfall! The situation has improved a bit now and we are up and at it to distribute the food parcels further!
In the paragraph below you can read about the traffic disruptions due to the poor weather conditions and view some photographs as well!
Ukraine suffering from heavy snowfall
Heavy snowfall paralysed large parts of Ukraine. Up to half a metre of snow fell in many places and in particular the provinces of Rivne, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi and Zhytomyr. The provinces Kiev, Vinnitsa and Tsjerkasi are enduring both snow and sleet, while further down in the south-east it is raining. This morning a total of 988 towns and cities were without electricity.
With might and main people are trying to carry out repairs and clear the roads. No driving allowed for lorries in some parts of the provinces of Lviv, Zhytomyr, Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi. The railway traffic was also severely disrupted by the snowfall. This morning thirty trains were delayed. In the northern part of the country snow will continue to fall in the hours to come.
In the city of Ternopil public transport was shut down this morning, while in the city of Lviv it is considered to proclaim a state of emergency. Parents in the western provinces are called on to keep their children at home for the day.
Yesterday a lot of work had to taken on to rescue motorists, who were snowed up or got stuck because of the icy roads. This was the case amongst others in the village of Hoshiv where the roads got so slippery that thirty motorists were unable to drive down a hill following a church service. Only after the road had been sanded the motorists could drive down the hill.
