In April 2004 in cooperation with Ebenezer, Koen Carlier became an aliyah fieldworker for Christians for Israel in the former Soviet-Union. The first year Koen mostly traveled and visited a lot of bases where Ebenezer had local people as well foreign volunteers working. Together with them they visited thousands of Jewish families and tried to encourage them to make aliyah. Their motivation was coming from the Bible, see Jeremiah 16 : 16. Koen also saw a need to inform the churches about Israel and an idea was born. Why not make the vision of ‘Christians for Israel’ more known among the Christians. A local believer first translated the book of Willem Glashouwer into the Russian language and then later into Ukrainian language as well. The first speaking tour of Willem Glashouwer in November 2005 was a great success and thousands of books were sold or given away. Many reactions came even from pastors like ‘now we finally understood why Israel’. In may 2006 Koen got married to Ira and together now they are possible we serve and help Jewish people in their area to make aliyah as well. Often they speak in churches all over about Israel. They hope and do pray that the Ukrainian believers will stand and pray for Israel.
