Biblical understanding about Israel

News

February 22, 2017 - [Press Release] Australia and Israel – a story of deep friendship

The visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu reflects deep relationship between Australia and Israel. Over the last 100 years, Australia has played an instrumental role in the creation of the Jewish homeland, and has been blessed by the contributions of hundreds and thousands of its Jewish citizens. Today the two nations share deep cultural, business, and technological ties. The Australian government is to be commended for its positive relationship with the State of Israel, and its constructive approach towards the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. In the months and years ahead, we must continue to play an active and constructive role.

February 21, 2017 - Thank you from the Jewish community in Ukraine

From the Akselrod familiy.. Dear Christians for Israel staff. My name is Igor Akselrod. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Christians for Israel, its director and all staff for their help with the food parcels. More than a year ago my wife and I left Donetsk and moved to Mariupol. Needless to explain how difficult the current situation in Donetsk is. After much deliberation we decided to leave everything behind.

February 16, 2017 - Jerusalem - “An Immovable Rock for all Nations” (Zechariah 12:3)

By Andrew Tucker.. When speaking about the events leading to His return, Jesus taught that “Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled” (Luke 21:24). No doubt He was referring to many passages in the Hebrew Tenach, in which Jerusalem is described as the city to which the Messiah will come, and from which the word of the Lord will go forth into the nations, and peace will cover the whole earth (see eg. Isaiah 2). Are these words being fulfilled before our very eyes?

February 14, 2017 - If one door is closed - He opens for us another one!

When Elena was telling me her story, her eyes were moist with tears. Memories about the events back in 2014, when the war in Ukraine broke out, are still extremely vivid for her. But the story of the Gerashenko family starts long before, 30 years ago in Donetsk (Eastern Ukraine) - with the marriage between Sergei and Elena. It was a beautiful young Jewish family – he was a teacher of history and she just finished her medical studies and was looking for a job as a physician. Then followed the birth of their first child, a cute curly-headed girl Ira.

February 8, 2017 - Holocaust in Ukraine still very much alive

We are in Chernovtsy, a Ukrainian city close to the Moldavian border. A city where before the Second World War around 50,000 Jews used to live, half of the population. They had a vibrant Jewish life. Today, there are only 1,300 Jews left. Most of the others were killed during the Holocaust. The horrors of the Holocaust in Ukraine cannot be described in words. The story goes that the screaming and yelling of the Jews that were murdered and abused in Chernovtsy chilled the inhabitants to the bone, so that out of desperation they started ringing the church bells, to overrule the death screams.

February 7, 2017 - Acts of war blaze up in East Ukraine

By Koen Carlier.. Good and bad news! Let’s start with the good news. The additional emergency aid action is now in full swing. During the past weeks we were able to pack and distribute hundreds of extra food parcels. Next Monday (February 6) we expect another truckload to pack another one thousand food parcels! Wednesday night we were able to bring two minibuses with olim to the airport for their departure to Israel. Their flight was scheduled to take off at 3 o’clock in the morning, but due to dense fog their flight was cancelled. Therefore we took all olim back to their villages. Last weekend we took them to our shelter in Kiev to spend the night. On Monday morning they finally left for real! Amongst the olim was an 82-year-old Holocaust survivor.

February 2, 2017 - Partner with C4I in 2017!

As we launch into 2017, one senses that we are in a new season in God's plan for redemption of His creation. In recent months we have seen many nations using the UN Security Council and UNESCO to adopt resolutions that in effect deny the connection between the Jewish people and the old city of Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount. These distortions of historical realities are a direct attack on the legitimacy of the connection between the Jewish people and the city. They are also directly opposed to God's promises to establish Jerusalem when the Messiah of Israel comes.

February 1, 2017 - Aliyah from Paris

It’s raining cats and dogs. Or as they say in French: il pleut comme une vache qui pisse. I won’t give you the literal translation, but it gives you a good picture of what I can see from my window in Paris. It is now the second of six weeks in which I’m joining the organisation Ebenezer Operation Exodus. This is the organisation you might know from the project ‘Bring the Jews Home’ in Ukraine. Christians for Israel and Ebenezer have a long-standing partnership and together they have assisted many Jewish families in their return to Israel (aliyah) from various parts of the world.

January 25, 2017 - Hanukkah in The Hague: light overcomes darkness and cold

Last night (December 28, 2016) more than 1,000 people came together in The Hague to experience the fifth night of the Jewish Hanukkah feast together. Central to this event was the largest Menorah in the world, which was positioned in front of the Peace Palace. The Peace Palace, where the International Court of Justice is located among other institutions related to international law, only became visible halfway through the afternoon when the fog lifted. This resulted in beautiful pictures during the Hanukkah event.

January 25, 2017 - Emergency Aid Ukraine

Shalom dear friends. Due to the extreme and prolonged cold in Ukraine, the poor Jewish families in particular are enduring difficult times. For this reason, Christians for Israel has decided to organize additional emergency aid in order to raise funds for extra food parcels. Because of the ongoing civil unrest and the violence of the last few years, life is very difficult for the Ukrainian people. The local currency (the hryvnia) has dramatically dropped in value due to the economic downturn. People living on benefits or a small pension can barely make ends meet because of this. The choices they have to make are heartbreaking. Wil I buy a meal or medicine?

January 25, 2017 - Long And Thorny Path Home

The Goldman family escaped from Donetsk in 2014, two days after the railways were bombed and destroyed. The only way to get out of the military zone was to go through three check points. Vladimir and Ilana took their kids Ksenia and Oleg and went to Harkov (Eastern Ukraine). In Harkov they decided to go to Russia. Did you think of making Aliyah back then in 2014? “At that time we didn't have time for preparing all the documents, first we had to run from the danger so after some days we found ourselves in the city of Moscow.”

January 19, 2017 - Answer to prayer after Paris "Peace" Conference

By Christians for Israel International.. Seventy nations met in Paris (Sunday January 15, 2017) and signed a Joint Declaration in which they called on Israel and the Palestinians to re-commit themselves to the "two states" solution which they say is the "only way to achieve enduring peace". The declaration, which was perhaps less problematic for Israel than anticipated, has no binding force. But it does have a strong political significance because it supports Security Council resolution 2334 that declared ALL Israeli settlements (= Jews) "illegal", and will only strengthen the desire of many nations to ensure that a Palestinian state is created.

January 11, 2017 - Making aliyah easily attainable

A cold and icy fourth of December 2016 was marked by another important step toward making aliyah easily attainable. That day about 2,500 Jewish people came from different corners of Ukraine to consult various aliyah organizations. These organizations have enough expertise and willingness to answer each and every burning question potential repatriates may have. The Jewish Agency or “Sochnut” in Hebrew hosted this event as usual, providing booths for municipalities of different cities, educational institutions, student summer camps and tours as well as employers.

These are momentous times for Israel and the Jewish people. On 23rd December 2016, the UN Security Council condemned all Jews living in the old city of Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria as “illegal”. In a speech just a few days later, U.S. Secretary of State Kerry’s speech again condemned Jewish “settlements” and called on the international community to divide the land of Israel and ensure the creation of new State of Palestine with its capital in Jerusalem. This Palestinian State is apparently going to solve the Israel/Palestine conflict and usher in world peace and security.

However, this message would partly contradict the essence of Chanukah.

It isn’t Jews alone who suffer under ISIS or Al Qaeda or Islamic Jihad. We make a great mistake if we think antisemitism is a threat only to Jews. It is a threat, first and foremost, to Europe and to the freedoms it took centuries to achieve.

I was wondering – will Willem manage such a punishing schedule? But Willem was full of energy., as always. He sees it as his calling to preach the gospel of the Kingdom to the church worldwide. His message is that God still loves his people Israel, his first-born son, and he is bringing them back to the land as he has promised (see e.g. Ezechiel 37), because he wants to bless the church and all nations too!

Although greeted by an exuberant crowd, He knew that just days later He would be rejected even by His friends, and die on the cross. I try to enter into His spirit of pain and loneliness. So we walk the staircases to the apartment of Olga (29) and Aleksandr Tzarenko (30) and their children Yevgenia and Anna. They are about to ‘make aliyah’ – to emigrate to the Promised Land. October 13, 2015 - “Your help is like manna” - Report from East Ukraine

By Marijke Terlouw.. We arrive at a dingy Soviet apartment building in East Ukraine. In the cellar a group of Jews is waiting for us. They are given a food parcel donated by you. They receive this small token of encouragement just before the Jewish New Year 5776 (14 and 15 September, 2015). What will the New Year hold? There is good reason for concern about the situation of the Jews in Ukraine. I was in Ukraine for just a few days, in September 2015, but they were very intense days. Of all the stories that I heard, one was even more poignant than the other. I spoke with Jews who were preparing to leave for Israel. Jews who didn’t even consider leaving the Ukraine until a few months ago. The situation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions became too much for them, for different reasons. You see the same thing happening in the regions bordering the war zone – for example, Mariupol – because there too, the war has left its scars.

August 28, 2014 - Christians for Israel International Annual Report 2013

Dear friends, We are living in momentous days. The Jewish people are coming home to the land. Collapse of the Israel/Palestinian peace talks. The nations of the world in conflict. Rise of extreme Islam. Demise of the US and rise of other global superpowers. Financial, environmental and energy crises, confusion in Europe. Rise of humanist secularism, and collapse of institutional churches. The Gospel of the Kingdom being preached in many nations and languages. Jesus said – learn the lesson of the fig tree. Heed the signs of His coming. Keep watch and pray. The core mission of Christians for Israel is to raise awareness in the Church about God’s purposes with Israel and the Jewish people, and the implications of this for Israel, the Church and the nations. We seek to do this primarily by training and equipping speakers and communicators, and through the media.

August 27, 2014 - New group of Bnei Menashe visits Western Wall in Jerusalem

Yesterday, we brought the 250 Bnei Menashe immigrants who made Aliyah in June 2014 with your help to the Western Wall in Jerusalem for the first time. July 23, 2014 - Prayer Letter Summer 2014

Hundreds of rockets have been fired in recent weeks from the Gaza strip into Israel. Since the start of Operation Protective Edge more than 1500 rockets have been. Hamas is claiming responsibility for all of these attacks. The residents of southern Israel are being forced to stay close to the bomb shelters. Summer camps for children in southern Israel have been closed by the Israeli army. Thousands of children are being evacuated to other parts of the country. The current IDF ground operation is intended inter alia to uncover and destroy tunnels coming into Israel from the Gaza strip. Hamas has on a number of occasions attempted to penetrate Israel through underground tunnels using them to instigate terror attacks; this is a major factor threatening Israel’s security. Hamas is also using houses, schools, mosques, and hospitals to store and launch rockets into Israeli civilian areas. The IDF is making every effort to cause as little harm as possible to Palestinian civilians, but there are many casualties. This personal email received on Friday 18th July from Michael Freund, Chairman of Shavei Israel, gives an insight into the tensions caused by the current conflict.

July 23, 2014 - The Global Prayer Call 2015 (GPC) and Christians for Israel International

By Harald Eckert.. Christians for Israel International (C4II), together with Ebenezer / Operation Exodus International (an Aliyah ministry) and the European Coalition for Israel have launched a unique global prayer initiative for the 100 days between January 27th and May 8th, 2015. January 27th, 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz Concentration Camp in 1945 (today: UN-Holocaust memorial day) and May 8th, 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe which also brought the Holocaust to an end. Today, Israel as a nation is being threatened not only by hostile Islamic neighbors, but also by powerful anti-Semitic forces among the nations in a way that is alarmingly similar to the way Jews in Europe were threatened 70 and more ago years by Nazi-Germany and her allies. 70 years ago most of the church was asleep. What about today…?

Isn’t that the thing we ought to do, setting our hearts on the things that are above? So do intercede for Israel on the basis of God’s word and promises for His land and people.

December 24, 2013 - Christmas Message by Rev. Willem J.J. Glashouwer

In the sixth month God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, we can read this in Luke 1:26-38. These are words that are very well known in the whole Christian world. Whenever we approach Christmas in the Sundays of advent before the feast of Christmas, all these messages are read from the Bible and in many churches many pastors are teaching about this.

I urge consider us in your prayers and your end-of-year giving. We need your financial and prayer support in order to be able to continue this important end-time ministry to the church and Israel.

December 19, 2013 - A word from the Chairman - Harald Eckert

As the year draws to an end, it is my joy and privilege to send you a word of greeting. For Israel the year 2013 was not an easy year. The situations in the neighboring countries have gotten even more unstable. The Iranian threat – with the Geneva agreement – has become greater and not lesser. The financial and social challenges of the nation are tense. The isolation of Israel amongst the nations and the media has grown. But still, there has been a comparably good level of quietness and absence of terror. And God is continuing to fulfil his promises towards the Jewish people and the relationship between us and the people of Israel – at many different levels – has never been as strong as today.

It is not easy for Malaysians to travel to Israel. They require a special visa which is meant for Israel but does not mention Israel by name. But a group of 24 Malaysians responded to Wilson Ng’s (C4I South East Asia Representative) and took the opportunity to visit Israel, to explore more deeply the Jewish roots of their faith and to tour the Land of the Bible. The group was accompanied by Rev. Willem Glashouwer (President C4I International) and his wife Marianne.

December 13, 2013 - A busy season - Report by our Aliyah fieldworker Koen Carlier

Many Jews traditionally leave the ‘Northern Countries’ during the last two months of the year. The many official documents, required by both the Israeli embassy and the local authorities, take approximately 1 to 2 years to assemble. By leaving now, people will avoid the possible interference of new rules that might be introduced in 2014. Winter has not yet put in an appearance, but that can change in an instant.

December 10, 2013 - Food parcels open new doors - report from C4I Ukraine

The food parcel action is in full swing now. Food parcels were distributed to quite a number of small villages by Nataliya Krizhanovski, our Christians for Israel co-worker in the Ukraine, for the first time. This is done in alliance with the leaders of the small Jewish communities who know the exact amount of food parcels required by individuals. The food parcels are a sign of comfort, and the people are brought to a momentary standstill when we tell them that this operation is made possible by individuals mostly from the Netherlands and Belgium.

After the Day of Atonement we had the opportunity to transport six young people from Vinnitsa, and two other small villages, to the airport in Kiev. A total of 33 youth left on a special program for young people who wish to emigrate – or make aliyah – to Israel. All the youth were accompanied by either one or two parents. We started the journey after checking that everybody had their passports and all the other required official documentation. The rain was pelting down, and we had to take extra care to avoid the deceitful, water-filled potholes. But all went well, and we arrived at Kiev airport at ten thirty in the morning.

We wish to state publicly that we reject the recent proclamations of many Christian church denominations condemning Israel. We believe that the gifts and callings of God are without repentance. God is faithful to His promises. He has not terminated His everlasting covenants with the Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants, and the Church has definitely not replaced Israel as God’s covenant people. The return of the Jewish people to the land is a wonderful sign of hope – it proves that God is faithful to His word, and that He is preparing all things for the coming of Messiah and the establishment of God’s kingdom on earth.

November 28, 2012 - Palestine in the UN

The legal consequences of the Palestinians’ UN application are perhaps debatable. But its adoption by the UN General Assembly on Friday will definitely constitute a significant step towards the establishment of a new fundamentalist Islamic state under international law on Israel’s doorstep. October 31, 2012 - Bring the Jews Home: Support the aliyah of the Bnei Menashe!

The Israeli cabinet has finally decided to give the green light to the return of the Bnei Menashe Jews. The Bnei Menashe (sons of Manasseh) claim descent from one of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, who were sent into exile by the Assyrian Empire more than 27 centuries ago. Their ancestors wandered through Central Asia and the Far East for centuries, before settling in what is now northeastern India, along the border with Burma and Bangladesh. Throughout their sojourn in exile, the Bnei Menashe continued to practice Judaism just as their ancestors did, including observing the Sabbath, keeping kosher, celebrating the festivals and following the laws of family purity. And they continued to nourish the dream of one day returning to the land of their ancestors, the Land of Israel.
