Israel strikes at the heart of the Iranian revolutionary regime

13 June 2025

Early this morning, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion: a pre-emptive military campaign to eliminate the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program.

Reports indicate that Israel’s attack has targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities, military sites and high-ranking military and nuclear personnel.

According to the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), precision targetted strikes have eliminated several key Iranian military personnel, including Brigadier General Mohammed Bagheri, the head of Iran’s military, Major General Hossein Salami, Commander-in Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and Gholam Ali Rashid, head of the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters. .

“The point of no return.”

The Rising Lion operation is the result of intelligence efforts over the last year to prepare for a full-scale assault in order to confront and eliminate the threat of Iran’s nuclear program. For decades, the revolutionary regime in Tehran has declared its intention to attack and destroy both the Little Satan (Israel) and the Great Satan (the USA). Over recent months there has been growing realization that Iran has come very close to the capacity to produce and launch ballistic missiles carrying nuclear warheads. The IDF’s Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, in a statement to the nation, declared that the Iranian nuclear program had developed so far that situation had “reached the point of no return.”

Prime Minister Netanyu has addressed the nation, stating that the operation is necessary to meet the existential threat posed by the Iranian regime in Tehran, and will continue for as long as necessary, probably several weeks.

Over the past week, the International Atomic Energy Agency has reported that Iran has produced enough enriched uranium to be able to produce at least nine atomic bombs.

“Diplomatic solution”

Iran has responded by launching hundreds of drones towards Israel. It is reported that Israeli forces are actively engaged to intercept these aerial weapons.

US President Donald Trump was informed about Israel’s intentions to launch this operation. While the US is not (yet) directly involved, and the President has continued to emphasize his preference for a “diplomatic solution”, he has apparently not sought to prevent Israel’s operation.

Let us pray that this conflict will not further escalate. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Let us pray ever more intensively for the coming of the Prince of Peace.

SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK: Numbers 23:18-24

“Arise, Balak, and listen;
hear me, son of Zippor.
or stand in the way that sinners take
19  God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?
20  I have received a command to bless;
he has blessed, and I cannot change it.
21  “No misfortune is seen in Jacob,
no misery observed[a] in Israel.
The Lord their God is with them;
the shout of the King is among them.
22  God brought them out of Egypt;
they have the strength of a wild ox.
23  There is no divination against Jacob,
no evil omens against Israel.
It will now be said of Jacob
and of Israel, ‘See what God has done!’
24  The people rise like a lioness;
they rouse themselves like a lion
that does not rest till it devours its prey
and drinks the blood of its victims.”
