Pesach in Ukraine – Will you help?

Koen Carlier - 23 March 2021

We are regularly asked how we are doing in Ukraine due to the Covid-19 infections. Unfortunately, it is not going in the right direction and every day there are more than 15,000 new infections.

One year later…
One year ago, at the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, there were strict measures. However, because there were no supporting actions for the small and large companies, people didn’t observe these measures. With all its consequences. If you were made redundant, you are on your own.

Are you ill and end up in hospital? You have to pay for everything yourself. Even meals have to be delivered at the door of the hospital by family or friends. Every day again we see distressful situations.

“Are you ill and end up in hospital? You have to pay for everything yourself”

For the second time in a row there cannot be large Pesach gatherings. Fortunately, Pesach food parcels will be brought to mainly Jewish elderly by numerous volunteers. Many Rabbis and Jewish organizations approached us if we could help them in the process. And of course we would very much want to do that together with you!

5,000 Pesach food parcels
Our goal is to pack over 5,000 Pesach food parcels and hand them out. These are no ordinary food parcels, because they contain products that are not eaten during Pesach. In the special Pesach food parcels are matzot, grape juice, fruit and vegetables like potatoes, cabbage, carrots and onions.

“Our goal is to pack over 5,000 special Pesach food parcels and hand them out to Jewish elderly and Holocaust survivors”

In twenty different places in Ukraine the Pesach food parcels will be packed and handed out. Also in the war zone and in towns adjacent to the war zone. We deliver the food parcels at the homes of the Jewish elderly and Holocaust survivors. Trapped by the violence of war, poverty and bureaucracy, they will be remembered that salvation and help can only come from the Lord, as it was in the days of Egypt. Thus, many Jews will speak longingly: “Next year in Jerusalem!”

Meanwhile we have already made a number of promises and people have started to pack and deliver these Pesach food parcels.

Will you help to deliver 5,000 special Pesach food parcels at the doorsteps of Jewish elderly and Holocaust survivors? The cost of one food parcel is € 10 or US $ 12. How many food parcels will you donate? Thank you in advance for your support!
