Holocaust survivor Volodya leaves for Israel

Koen Carlier - 29 November 2018

In our Post “Holocaust survivor will soon make aliyah” we told you about Volodya Garber and that he would leave for Israel for good and all by the end of November 2018! On November 25 we finally came to such a pass that we first farewelled Volodya in the small local synagogue in Mogolov Podolsky near the Moldavian border and the next day witnessed his departure for good and all! Volodya told me that he had hardly slept a wink in the past three days because of all the emotions and that it was not easy to leave his hometown for good. Nevertheless, he is full of hope while looking at the future during his aliayh.

Nobody stays behind in Ukraine and with the departure of Volodya, his daughter and his son-in-law, every member of his family will be in Israel! The first members of his family made aliyah from Ukraine twenty-two years ago. Volodya was very grateful for our practical help and we said goodbye with the words ‘See you again in Israel’!

Ezekiel 39:28 “… I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind.”
