Doubling the Impact: From 13,000 to 26,000 Food Parcels in Ukraine

We are in the midst of packing emergency food parcels across Ukraine as part of the response campaign we launched in June. Our original target was 13,000 parcels. But the need has grown far beyond early projections, and we are now working to double that goal to 26,000 food parcels.

Over the past few weeks, requests for help have surged. Missile and drone attacks from Russia are increasing dramatically — almost every night, between 400 and 700 drones and missiles strike across the country. Ukrainians are exhausted, spending each night in fear, wondering where the next wave of destruction will hit.Even near our main shelter outside Kiev, where we prepare and distribute food parcels, our staff and volunteers endure short, restless nights as they continue their work amidst the uncertainty.

This week several drone strikes hit a city in western Ukraine, where we also pack our food parcel, causing widespread damage. It is a reminder of why this relief effort is very important.

A food parcel may seem like a small gesture, but for the people here in Ukraine, it means everything. It is not only about the food; it is about the message it carries — that they are not forgotten, that people care, and that they are not alone in this struggle.

Last week, for example, 130 Holocaust survivors in Odessa received food parcels. In recent weeks, we have delivered 1,200 food parcels to elderly Jewish residents and refugees there. One Holocaust survivor told us he could still feel the warmth of our embrace and the comfort of knowing that we stand with them.
